Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning FAQs
How much does carpet cleaning cost?
The cost depends on the size of the area to be cleaned, the condition of the carpets, and whether there are any specific issues such as heavy soiling, staining, pet odours or urine contamination. We aim to keep our pricing fair and competitive, and we are always upfront about costs before any work is booked in.
How much does upholstery cleaning cost?
Upholstery cleaning prices depend on the type of furniture, the size of the item, the fabric, and the level of soiling. A standard armchair will usually cost less than a large corner sofa, for example. If you send us a few photos and some basic details, we can usually provide a quote quickly.
How long does carpet cleaning take?
This depends on how many rooms are being cleaned, the size of the areas, the level of soiling, and whether any stain treatments are needed. As a rough guide, most standard domestic jobs are completed within a couple of hours. Larger or more heavily soiled jobs may take longer.
Do you clean commercial as well as domestic?
Yes, we clean both domestic and commercial carpets and upholstery. Most of our work is residential, but we do also carry out commercial cleaning for offices, communal areas, and other business premises. If you have a commercial enquiry, just get in touch and we will be happy to discuss it.
How long will my carpets take to dry?
Drying times can vary depending on the type of carpet, how heavily soiled it was, airflow in the room, and the weather on the day. In most cases, carpets are dry within around 2 to 4 hours. We will usually give you a realistic drying time estimate once the cleaning has been completed.
How long will my sofa take to dry?
Drying times for upholstery depend on the fabric, the amount of moisture used during cleaning, room temperature, and ventilation. In most cases, upholstery is dry within a few hours, although some fabrics may take a little longer. We will always advise you on expected drying times after cleaning.
Will the stains come back after cleaning?
In very rare cases, certain stains can reappear slightly as the fabric or carpet dries. This is known as wick-back and tends to happen when a spill has soaked deeper than the surface. If that happens, we will always do our best to resolve it. Many stains clean out completely, but we always prefer to be honest and realistic rather than promise results that cannot be guaranteed.
Will cleaning make my carpet get dirty again quicker?
No, not when it has been cleaned properly. Rapid re-soiling is often caused when carpets are left with sticky cleaning residues from poor quality products or incorrect cleaning methods. Our process is designed to clean the carpet thoroughly while leaving it properly rinsed, so it stays as clean as possible for as long as possible.
Can you remove stubborn stains?
We can treat and improve many stubborn stains, and in a lot of cases we can remove them completely. That said, stain removal depends on what the stain is, how long it has been there, what it has been spilled on, and whether anyone has already tried to treat it. We will always assess things honestly and advise you on the likely outcome before carrying out specialist stain treatment.
Can you remove pet odours and urine smells?
Yes, we offer treatment for pet odours and urine contamination. The success of this depends on how severe the issue is and how deeply it has affected the carpet, underlay or upholstery. In many cases we can achieve a major improvement, but where contamination is severe we will always explain the limitations clearly and advise on the most realistic outcome.
Can you remove old stains?
Sometimes yes, but it depends entirely on the type of stain and how long it has been there. Older stains can be more difficult, especially if they have chemically changed the fibres or if previous attempts have set the stain. We will always do our best, but we would rather be honest than promise a result that may not be possible.
Is every stain guaranteed to come out?
No, not every stain can be guaranteed to come out. Some stains permanently affect the dye or the fibre itself, and some will have been made worse by previous cleaning attempts or household products. We will always do our best and use the most suitable treatment available, but honest expectations are an important part of professional cleaning.
Will professional cleaning damage my carpet or sofa?
Professional cleaning should not damage your carpet or sofa when it is carried out correctly. We use appropriate methods and products based on the fibre or fabric being cleaned, and we are trained and insured for the work we undertake. In fact, one of the biggest risks usually comes from incorrect DIY attempts or the wrong products being used.
Are your products safe for children and pets?
Yes, the products we use are selected to be safe and suitable for professional carpet and upholstery cleaning when used correctly. We do recommend following any aftercare advice given, including allowing items to dry properly before normal use. If you have any specific concerns, just let us know and we will be happy to discuss them.
Can you clean wool carpets safely?
Yes, wool carpets can be cleaned safely when the correct products and methods are used. As a natural fibre, wool requires a careful and informed approach. Having completed WoolSafe Fibre Care Specialist training, we understand the importance of selecting suitable cleaning solutions and processes for wool carpets.
Can you clean delicate upholstery safely?
Yes, delicate upholstery can often be cleaned safely, but it is important that the fabric is correctly identified and assessed first. Different materials require different cleaning methods, and we always aim to use the safest and most suitable process for the fabric in question. We will always be honest if we feel a material needs a particularly cautious approach.
Do I need to move furniture before you arrive?
Small items such as toys, shoes, plants and other personal belongings are helpful to have moved before we arrive. We can usually work around larger furniture where needed, but having the area as clear as possible does help us clean more thoroughly and efficiently.
Do you move furniture as part of the service?
We can move light furniture where practical, but we do not move heavy, fragile or valuable items unless agreed in advance. Our priority is always to carry out the work safely and without causing damage. If you are unsure about a particular item, just ask beforehand and we can advise.
Do you offer stain protection after cleaning?
Yes, stain protection can be applied after cleaning on suitable carpets and upholstery. This can help provide a level of protection against future spills and make items easier to maintain. It is not a guarantee against staining, but it can be a very worthwhile added service in the right circumstances.
What makes your service different?
We believe in being honest with customers, realistic about results, and professional in the way we carry out our work. We are trained, insured, and committed to using the right methods and products for the fibres and fabrics we clean. Rather than overpromise, we prefer to give clear advice, do the job properly, and deliver the best result we can.
